Fir Tree Fishery

Description

Fir Tree Fishery is one of only a few fully disabled access fishing venues in the country that prides itself on delivering rehabilitation events for people who have not been able to access angling.

Rehabilitation through Angling

Fir Tree Fishery has been working closely with a number of charities and disability support groups such as The British Disabled Angling Association, Think Ahead Community Stroke Group and Hunter Lodge Brain Injury Support Group, developing rehabilitation events to make angling accessible to everyone.

Many of the groups and individuals we currently support have previously not been able to enjoy angling due to the lack of disabled access facilities, bank side support and limited access which has prevented people with physical disabilities for participating.

We have therefore developed specialist session for groups with disabilities to come and enjoy angling and experience why it is the biggest participant sport in the country. Our team of Angling Coaches and young volunteers or ‘buddies’ as we like to call them will be present to offer support and guidance on the bank side and make angling available to everyone from the specialist disabled access angling coaching pegs.

These sessions are ideal for local charities or organisations who work with individuals with disabilities who might have suffered a stroke, have mobility issues or simply feel socially isolated who want to experience angling.

All fishing tackle and bait is provided on the day and our specialist staff and volunteers will be on hand to offer help on arrival.
