Cardiff sledge hockey club is a friendly local team based in Cardiff's Ice Arena Wales ice rink. Started in 96 and became one of the pioneers of sledge hockey in the UK. We currently play in the BSHA league and also enter tournaments around the world.
How Do I Play It?
Sledge hockey is a seated version of ice hockey. Each player sits in a specific made sledge and then they use two sticks with a 'hockey end' at the top and 'small teeth spikes' at the bottom, which is dug in to the ice and propel yourself around the ice.
Who Can Play it?
Sledge hockey is a team sport with ability’s from beginner and recreational to paralympic levels. The club is suitable for junior & senior members with a physical disability, as there is a degree of upper body strength needed to play the sport, although everyone is welcome to come and try it out first, this also includes non-disabled participants.
What do I Need?
The club provides the sledge plus the necessary kit for your starter sessions. It will be thirsty work on your very first session so it might be worth bring a full water bottle.
When Can I Play?
Training sessions are 5:15pm - 7:15pm Every Saturday
